ECZ mourns death of poll staff member in Mporokoso
MPOROKOSO Town Council and the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) are mourning the death of Catherine Phiri Msimuko, a poll staff member who died after falling ill while on duty.
According to details confirmed by the local authority, Msimuko complained of a headache while on duty before returning home after her condition worsened.
Her family and colleagues later rushed her to Mporokoso District Hospital, where she was diagnosed with very high blood pressure.
Despite receiving medical attention, Msimuko died at around 03:00 hours.
Msimuko was the wife of Msimuko Malama, the Mporokoso District Returning Officer.
The funeral service will be held in Kasama, with further details on the funeral and burial arrangements to be communicated in due course, according to the council.
In a condolence message conveyed through the council, the District Electoral Officer and the entire ECZ staff in Mporokoso expressed heartfelt sympathies to Malama and the Malama family.
“May God grant them strength, comfort and courage as they mourn the loss of their beloved wife, mother and colleague,” the statement read.
