Zambia’s Sixth President, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu has expressed shock at the false allegations by the Drug Enforcement Commission that they have nabbed his driver or former driver for trafficking in cannabis.
The former President says he has never had a driver named Juvensio Mathews Phiri under State House or under officers attached to his office from the Zambia Police.
He has called on the Drug Enforcement Commission(DEC) Director General, Mr. Nason Banda to show minimum decency and professionalism.
Former President Lungu has called on public institutions to remain professional despite the political pressure they receive from desperate leaders who are engaged in attempting to tarnish his name or his legacy.
The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) issued a statement stating that its officers in Eastern Province arrested former president Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s Driver and Security personnel, identified as Juvensio Mathews Phiri, male aged 53, for trafficking in 55.6 Kg of loose cannabis.
President Lungu has also called on the media to be professional despite the current political pressure, the state of shrunk democratic space, and reject the temptation or allure of making them as paid voices to parrot government propaganda.
He gave an example where he called on the Implementation of quality education in Zambia and the need NOT to sacrifice quality education in the name of free education, a statement that has grossly and falsely been reported that he called for the cancellation of the free education policy.
President Lungu said Zambia was facing a serious crisis with the challenges of the economy, disease outbreaks and the worst cost of living in many decades.
He said Zambia was also facing the threat of food insecurity following the drought caused by the El Niño weather effect and the wanton maize exports that was done without due consideration the national strategic maize reserves.
He said the concerns about food security was so serious that it may worsen the current economic conditions if not dealt with adequately.
He called on the Government of President Hakainde Hichilema to concentrate on delivering service to the people of Zambia and resolving the various crises facing the nation than his efforts concentrating of attempting to destroy democracy and the Opposition in Zambia.

So Lungu knows all the workers that were attached to him by name? Mwamba either Phiri is lying or you and your boss want to distance yourselves from this man.
If Phiri is lying go and give a statement to DEC instead of playing to the gallery. Your statement at DEC will shift the burden of proof on Phiri given the statement he made to DEC
Mulenga from the kraal. How on earth wouldn’t you know your driver’s name?. Whatmore you know all your 1000 cows by voice and scent.
Would Lungu know All the drivers at State House by name?
I watched Lungu disparaging free education. What will be better:
1. No education for many and good education for a few or
2. Poor education for many and still good education for a very few?
Let’s wait for further reaction from other investigative arms before ourselves reacting

Where is your former Barber man mr Lungu sir? Was is a convicted murderer in jail. You used to dine and wine with him!
ECL has morally challenged. No need for him to deny somebody who was in his team. You don’t get to know every one of them. I don’t know half the guys that worked under at the various corporates I worked…it’s normal. In any case you can only know all of them if you were just dancing and drinking instead of working during your ill-fated 7 year term. HH cannot know all his driving team, not even half. He is too busy with high level engagements for that.
So ECL, you are just showing how incompetent you were to concentrate on knowing the cleaners, drivers and office orderlies. Maybe you drank and played pool with them all. And never held a single presser in 7 years…what a waste of presidency. Never again in this country, no matter how much you insult HH.
That statement was extremely unprofessional. No where in the statement is it indicated the alleged drug trafficker did it in collusion with ECL. So why bring in ECL? ECL should consider suing DEC for defamation to help put an end to its unprofessional conduct.
ECL is emotionally unstable!
Why the paranoia?
Why always on the edge?
If someone brings a damaging accusation against you and you know your conscious is clear, why panic?
It’s not even President HH who named you in this Chamba case but the accused.
Instead of going to DEC offices to clear your name, you are panicking and playing to the gallery.
ECL does not deserve to enjoy immunity!
There seems to be a lot of criminality he is hiding in the name of immunity!
Not long ago, he was hiding a murderer in the name of his Barbar man.
Today, he is implicated in Chamba trafficking.
In Rwanda Courts, his name came out as a sponsor of rebel activities in Rwanda.
You only need Two points to draw a straight line.
We need to lift this immunity for ECL and check what else he is hiding!
A man’s character is known through the friends he keeps. If he aids and abetts murder, he is a potential murderer. If he is in the company of drug traffickers, he is probably one.
In the interest of national security, ECL needs to be thoroughly investigated!
