Egypt Approves “All Necessary and Available Support” to Defend Saudi Arabia
Egypt’s National Defense Council has approved providing Saudi Arabia with “all necessary and available forms of support” to help defend the kingdom against escalating Houthi attacks.
The council, chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, announced its full support for Riyadh and called for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the ongoing tensions.
The decision comes after el-Sisi pledged on Saturday that Egypt would take all necessary measures to defend Saudi Arabia if requested, while emphasizing that Egypt’s role would be strictly defensive
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Parliament was expected to hold an emergency session on Sunday to discuss and potentially authorize the deployment of Egyptian forces to Saudi Arabia.
The development could mark a significant expansion of regional military coordination as tensions involving the Houthis and Saudi Arabia continue to escalate.
