ELECTION PREDICTIONS ARE A MONEY SPINNER FOR SOME PROPHETS’ — BISHOP SILWIMBA

The Bishops Council of Zambia has urged Zambians to be wary of prophets making predictions about who is likely to win the August 13 General Elections, warning that some clergy members may be using the election period to make money.
Council President Bishop Martin Silwimba says election predictions have become a money spinner for some prophets, who capitalise on the political season to attract attention and generate income.
Speaking on Sun FM Radio and TV’s Zambia Decides, Bishop Silwimba questioned how different prophets can make conflicting predictions, with some claiming National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) President Brian Mundubile will win, while others predict an overwhelming victory for incumbent President Hakainde Hichilema.
He says God is not a God of confusion, arguing that conflicting prophecies can confuse and mislead voters.
Bishop Silwimba has therefore urged Zambians to disregard election predictions and turn out in large numbers to vote for candidates of their choice.
He has further warned that, if not carefully handled, election prophecies can fuel voter apathy and mislead the electorate ahead of the August 13 polls.
