Ramaphosa

In what would be tremendously shocking, speculation is swirling that the ANC‘s highest decision body between conferences – the national executive committee (NEC) – could be set to take an unprecedented move by requesting President Cyril Ramaphosa to step aside indefinitely.

According to a certain Dr. Phomolo who happens to be privy to ANC internal matters, the party’s highest structure has seemingly been placed between a rock a hard place.

This is in the wake of the damning allegations made by former Prisons, Arthur Fraser, who laid a criminal complaint against the president in relation to an alleged robbery that took place at his Phala Phala game farm.

South Africans, including some political opportunists have been asking a myriad of questions as it relates to the matter, and some of these questions have proven to be quite difficult for the President to provide adequately sufficient answers to exonerate himself.

And the ANC has been rocked by this scandal which in many ways exposes the fact that the rot potentially starts from the head.

At this point in time, there is no substantial evidence to confirm nor deny Dr Phomolo’s claim regarding the ANC’s position on matter.

The prospect of the NEC calling for the President to step aside indefinitely is quite incomprehensible by any stretch of imagination

The structure is said to be dominated by those who are aligned to the president, and many of them have unwaveringly demonstrated their support for him to contest for a 2nd term.

However, given the ANC’s history of demonstrating that there are no permanent friends in politics, and that time and space are all that matters, some NEC members with a keen interest in potentially gaining positions at the ANC’s 55th national elective conference in December, may not hesitate to throw Cyril under the bus.

In my perspective, the ANC’s desire for the president to step aside under no uncertain circumstances, so that he can properly subject himself to relevant investigations by various bodies, makes a lot of sense.

In any case, he has agreed to cooperate with relevant law enforcement agencies in order to clear his name.

Do you think considering that Ramaphosa has had the backing of the NEC, they could abruptly turn against him & ask him to resign or step aside?
