The Cost of Living in Lusaka could be higher than what has been projected by JCTR, Lusaka and Copperbelt Provinces Minister Hon. Bowman Chilosha Lusambo has said.
Hon Lusambo said this when he featured on Millennium Radio’s the Interview Programme in Lusaka today.
The Current tabulations of the Cost of Living for a Family of Five in Lusaka currently stands at Over K9,000.
But Mr Lusambo said there is hunger in the country because people are unable to afford decent meals due to the escalating prices of Goods and services.
He said if one was to introspect properly, it would be found that the actual cost of living in Lusaka is beyond K13,000
Hon Lusambo said the country has been destroyed by the current crop of leaders through lies.
He said the Zambian people are still waiting for the UPND to give people mealie meal at K50.
“Economy yabantu Kulya Baikuta noti vama Inflation. Insala fulu mumayanda yabantu. Kuti watwala inflation ku mandevu, Inflation ku Kabushi waya ati clap for me we have a single digit inflation. Inflation Yaba UPND Single digit but the prices continue increasing,” he said.
He has therefore challenged the New Dawn Administration to reduce the fuel Prices which are having an effect on commodities.
“The Ministers and the leaders are unable to see what we are seeing. People are hungry. And when there is hunger, kulaba ukusebana,” he said.
Meanwhile, Hon Lusambo said despite the challenges, Zambia has got a lot of money in form of natural resources.
He said this is why investors come into Zambia and earn a fortune.
Hon Lusambo said it is therefore Prudent for the country to have home based solutions as opposed to rushing to IMF.
He said Zambia must tap into the untapped natural resources adding that it is better than countries like United Arab Emirates (DUBAI) which rely much on artificial resources.
“We have a lot of minerals in this country. People have been taking about dubai, there is nothing special about that country. Zambia is better than Dubai, everything about Zambia is natural, everything about Dubai is Artificial. The difference between Zambia and Dubai is commitment. The people of Dubai are committed to make their country better. But for Zambia, the people have neglected this country. Nowonder I would need the people of Zambia who would support the country,” he said.
The former Kabushi Lawmaker has also noted the need to diversify from the dependence on the mining sector to Agriculture.
