Erdoğan: Turkey Has Become Capable of Producing Its Own Advanced Weapons
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has highlighted what he described as a major transformation in Turkey’s domestic defense industry, saying the country has moved from relying on foreign suppliers for even basic infantry weapons to producing a wide range of advanced military systems domestically.
“We transformed a country that once bought even its infantry rifles from abroad into a country capable of producing its own tanks, aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, warships, missiles and submarines,” Erdoğan said.
Erdoğan also reflected on his long political career and pledged to continue serving Turkey for many more years.
“I, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, have been in politics for 50 years. If God grants me health and a long life, I will continue my struggle to serve Turkey for many more years,” he said.
His remarks underscore Ankara’s continued emphasis on strengthening domestic defense production and reducing Turkey’s reliance on foreign military technology.
