ERDOĞAN: TURKEY WILL CONTINUE TO DEFEND THE PALESTINIAN CAUSE

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking at a joint press conference with the Palestinian president, reaffirmed Turkey’s continued support for the Palestinian cause.

Erdoğan said:

“I want to once again emphasize that supporting Palestine is a responsibility shared by all humanity, especially the Islamic world. As Turkey, we will continue to defend the Palestinian cause everywhere.”

The Turkish president also reaffirmed Ankara’s support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the borders that existed before 1967.

“We will resolutely continue our efforts toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital and borders based on the pre-1967 lines.”

Erdoğan’s remarks reaffirm Turkey’s longstanding position that a lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict requires Palestinian statehood and a political settlement based on the pre-1967 borders.
