Eswatini Mourns Home Affairs Minister Princess Lindiwe After Death In South Africa
Eswatini is mourning the death of Home Affairs Minister Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe, who died following a short illness while receiving medical treatment in South Africa.
Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini announced her death in a government statement, extending condolences to King Mswati III, the Queen Mother, members of the Royal Family, Princess Lindiwe’s relatives, colleagues and all those who knew her.
Princess Lindiwe had served as Minister of Home Affairs since 2018 and was reappointed to the position in 2023. She was also a member of the House of Assembly.
She was a daughter of the late King Sobhuza II and a sister of King Mswati III.
According to the Eswatini government, Princess Lindiwe began her professional career in 1985 as an administration assistant at the Eswatini National Administration Office. She later became involved in business, including manufacturing and car-wash services.
In 2008, King Mswati III appointed her to Liqoqo, a traditional advisory structure to the King. In 2018, she was appointed to Parliament and became Minister of Home Affairs.
Beyond politics, Princess Lindiwe was involved in Christian ministry. She and her husband, Apostle Robert Kasaro, led the Jesus Calls Worship Centre, a faith-based organisation with branches in Eswatini and South Africa. She also served as a pastor and leader of the church’s Ladies Ministry.
The couple had three children. A profile of Kasaro’s ministry also confirms that he and Princess Lindiwe had three children together.
The Eswatini government paid tribute to Princess Lindiwe as a member of Cabinet and a spiritual leader, while Prime Minister Dlamini conveyed condolences to the Royal Family and those affected by her death.
