EU URGES MEMBER STATES TO CUT ENERGY USE AHEAD OF WINTER
The European Union’s Energy Commissioner has urged member states to continue reducing gas and electricity consumption, warning that energy storage levels are unusually low and prices are rising ahead of the winter season.
According to Euronews, the commissioner cautioned that strong global demand for energy could increase pressure on supplies and potentially lead to shortages if consumption rises significantly.
EU countries are therefore being encouraged to maintain energy-saving measures as they prepare for the coming winter and heightened uncertainty in global energy markets.
