FELIX MUTATI AND DOUGLAS SYAKALIMA NOMINATED AND SWORN IN AS MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT
President Hakainde Hichilema has nominated Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Felix Mutati and former Education Minister Douglas Syakalima as Members of Parliament.
The two were officially sworn in on Tuesday, 27th October 2026, by Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti.
Mutati, who previously served as Minister of Technology and Science, returns to Parliament as a nominated MP, while Syakalima, a former Member of Parliament for Chirundu Constituency, also makes his return to the National Assembly.
The development comes just a day after President Hichilema wrote to Parliament proposing the restructuring, merging and dissolution of certain government ministries as part of efforts to improve efficiency and advance the Grow Zambia Agenda.
The nominations mark another development in the ongoing reorganisation of government following the 2026 general elections.
