FORMER PRESIDENT IAN KHAMA SAYS ZAMBIA’S ELECTION CRISIS DEMANDS TRANSPARENCY, ACCOUNTABILITY

Former Botswana President Lt Gen Seretse Khama Ian Khama has called for transparency and accountability in Zambia’s post-election political crisis.

Khama has raised concerns over alleged electoral irregularities, arrests of opposition figures and reported abuses by security agencies.

He is calling for the release of opposition figures facing what he describes as politically motivated charges, as well as an independent investigation into the death of former Transport Minister Mutotwe Kafwaya during a security operation.

Khama says Zambia’s national-security laws should not be used to suppress political opposition, stressing that electoral disputes must be resolved through evidence, independent investigations and constitutional processes.

  1. There is no post election crisis.
When did losing an election become a crisis?
    Nigga please.
    HH won fair game.

Those who lost and knew they were losing had planned to usurp power by violent means. They are facing the appropriate charges. Let the matter be sorted out in court.
    Not on social media.
    Until then STFU

  2. Ian, with all due respect. Would you, yourself have tolerated the nonsense the opposition were doing before the elections during your time? Remember, there was the Motswaledi issue before the elections you presided over under your Presidency? There was also the Kalafatis issue, remember?

  3. Mr. Ian Khama sir, it seems running your mouth will soon open another front, this time with Zambia. You are already in bad taste with Zimbabwe. Stay in your lane. While we appreciate that as a former head of state you have the right comment on regional and continental issues, you are also expected to understand contexts under which those issues evolve.
