Former MP urges Pezeshkian to seek direct talks with US

Yadollah Eslami, secretary-general of the Assembly of Former Members of Parliament, has called on President Masoud Pezeshkian to pursue direct talks with the United States, arguing that only such a move can change Iran’s current trajectory.

In an open letter, Eslami urged Pezeshkian to “set aside official protocols” and “courageously declare” that he is ready to resolve the dispute between Iran and the United States.

“Iran today needs the courage for peace more than war rhetoric and calls for revenge,” he wrote. “Every day peace is delayed, more of the country’s human capital, material resources and infrastructure suffer damage.”
