Former Israeli Military Deputy Chief Says Killing Ali Khamenei Was a Major Mistake

Former Israeli military deputy chief and opposition leader Yair Golan has reportedly described the killing of Ali Khamenei as a major strategic mistake that did not serve Israel’s interests, arguing that the operation has left the country facing uncertainty.

Golan reportedly said Khamenei was an elderly leader who often exercised restraint and was willing to make compromises, while his son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, is more hardline, uncompromising, and hostile.

He also argued that Israel had been in a stronger strategic position internationally before Khamenei’s killing but has since found itself in a state of confusion and uncertainty.

The remarks and their attribution have not been independently verified.
