KAOMA CHALLENGES OPPOSITION TO OFFER CLEAR VISION

Former Patriotic Front-PF-member Chomba Kaoma has challenged opposition leaders vying for the Presidency to offer Zambians a clear vision for the country’s future .

Mr. Kaoma says the opposition has failed to present practical policy alternatives despite seeking the country’s highest office.

He told journalists during a press briefing in Lusaka that the New Dawn Administration has restored the rule of law by ensuring that political party cadres who break the law are held accountable.

Mr. Kaoma said unlike in the past when party cadres appeared to wield more authority than the police, President Hakainde Hichilema  has consistently maintained that no one is above the law.

He said the President’s firm stance has helped reduce lawlessness and strengthened respect for the rule of law.

Meanwhile Mr. Kaoma has expressed concern over remarks allegedly directed at civil servants by some presidential candidates saying such statements risk encouraging political intimidation of public officers.

He added that Zambia has moved from being one of the worst performing economies to one attracting investor confidence due to prudent economic management and the rebuilding of strategic reserves.

Mr. Kaoma called on Zambians to reflect on the country’s progress and support leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to national development.

Meanwhile International Relations Expert Edgar Silwimba said  the level of development recorded under the current administration makes it attainable for President Hichilema  to secure five million votes in the August 13 General Election.

Mr Silwimba said the Zambia National Service-ZNS-skills training programme has equipped many young people with vocational skills that will enable them to become self employed.

He added that the government has also rolled out solar energy projects across the country, a development aimed at addressing electricity shortages and positioning Zambia to export surplus power.

Mr Silwimba  also said the free education policy has transformed access to education for thousands of children who previously could not afford to attend school.
