FRANCE BURNS UNDER MACRON AS HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS FLOOD THE STREETS OVER CRUSHING COSTS

France is not protesting. It is rejecting. More than 400,000 people took to the streets nationwide on Saturday, including 110,000 in Paris, over soaring living costs, failing schools, and a government that keeps telling citizens to accept less while demanding more. Police faced projectiles, tear gas filled the air, and the message from the streets was clear: the progressive experiment has failed.

What began as student anger over underfunded classrooms and teacher shortages has fused with Yellow Vest frustrations, union demands, and working-family fury at energy prices that jumped more than 21 percent in a year. Inflation sits at 3.1 percent.

Purchasing power is eroding. Macron’s government answers with budget cuts and lectures. The result is a movement that is no longer a weekend event. Organizers are already building toward a nationwide general strike on November 5.

This is not spontaneous unrest. It is the predictable outcome of years of high taxes, heavy regulation, green mandates that drive up energy costs, and a political class more focused on managing decline than reversing it.

The same voices that once celebrated Macron’s technocratic vision now watch crowds grow while city halls and streets become battlegrounds. When governments treat prosperity as optional and discipline as optional for themselves, the public eventually stops cooperating.

The November 5 strike will test whether this remains contained or becomes something larger. France has a long history of street power forcing political retreats.

Macron’s final months in office are already defined by curfews, mass deployments, and a public that no longer believes the official line that everything is under control. The costs of living are real. The policy failures that produced them are measurable. The crowds are not going home.- DTP
