GERMANY AND BRITAIN SEEK MORE AIR DEFENCE FOR UKRAINE

Germany and Britain are searching for additional air defence systems and missiles for Ukraine as American Patriot deliveries fall short of requirements, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said.

According to Pistorius, few additional Patriot systems and interceptors are arriving from the United States, while German production of PAC-2 GEM-T missiles is only beginning. That leaves an urgent gap between Ukraine’s immediate needs and what manufacturers can deliver.

Berlin and London aim to prepare a roadmap for other partners ahead of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting on 17 November at NATO headquarters in Brussels. Britain is also examining further assistance and encouraging allies to contribute.

The immediate priority is turning available equipment and missile stocks into deliveries. Expanding production matters for Ukraine’s long-term security, but cities facing Russian attacks tonight need protection now.
