Germany Considers €12 Billion Long-Range Missile Investment Amid Russian Threats
Germanyis reportedly seriously considering investing €12 billion to acquire long-range missiles, as Berlin seeks to strengthen its military capabilities in response to growing tensions with Russia.
According to Western media reports, Germany has faced increasingly frequent security threats and warnings linked to Russia, particularly because of Berlin’s leading role in supporting Ukraine.
Within just two weeks, Germany has reportedly dealt with two security-related incidents. On Tuesday, August 4, authorities discovered a drone carrying explosives at Leipzig Airport. Then, on Friday, August 21, a cache of firearms was reportedly found near Berlin
Against this backdrop, the German government is increasingly assessing the need to expand its long-range strike capabilities, with officials reportedly viewing a major investment in missile systems as an important step toward strengthening the country’s deterrence and national security.
The reported €12 billion plan would represent a significant expansion of Germany’s military capabilities as Europe continues to prepare for a potentially prolonged confrontation with Russia.
