GEZILE CHARGED WITH PRODUCTION OF OBSCENE MATERIAL
Details in the Statement………… The Zambia Police Service in Lusaka has formally charged and arrested Gezile Smith Mwale, aged 23, for the offence of Production of Obscene Matters or Things, contrary to Section 177 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that between 22 and 27 July 2026, the suspect, acting together with other persons, participated in the production of videos depicting persons engaged in obscene acts.
The suspect is further alleged to have circulated the said videos on various social media platforms.
The matter was reported to the Zambia Police Service Anti-Cyber Crime Unit on 27 July 2026, prompting investigations conducted jointly with the Zambia Cyber Security Agency.
Preliminary investigations led to the identification and arrest of the suspect. Other persons believed to have been involved remain at large, and efforts to locate and apprehend them are ongoing.
The suspect has been formally charged and remains in police custody pending appearance in court.
The Zambia Police Service reminds members of the public that the production, possession, publication, and circulation of obscene material are offences under the laws of Zambia.
