“GO TO HELL!” — Zimbabwean Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono Blasts Donald Trump Administration Over New U.S. Visa Restrictions Targeting South Africa, Accuses Washington of Hypocrisy and Interference

Zimbabwean journalist and government critic Hopewell Chin’ono has launched a fierce attack on the Trump administration following the announcement of new U.S. visa restrictions targeting individuals linked to South Africa’s land reform policies and alleged racial discrimination.

The United States announced that visa restrictions could be imposed on foreign nationals who, according to Washington, enable race-based discrimination, incite violence, or support land expropriation without compensation in South Africa. The move has further heightened tensions between Pretoria and Washington.

Reacting on social media, Chin’ono strongly condemned the decision and told U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to “go to hell,” accusing the United States of hypocrisy and claiming it has no moral authority to lecture South Africa on race relations. He also criticised what he described as a politically motivated refugee programme and alleged interference in South African affairs.

The announcement has triggered heated debate across social media and political circles. Supporters of the U.S. move argue it is aimed at protecting minority rights and addressing discrimination concerns, while critics say Washington is unfairly targeting South Africa and misrepresenting the country’s policies.

The latest diplomatic clash is expected to add further strain to relations between the United States and South Africa as disagreements over land reform, race relations and international policy continue to grow.-SAV
