God rejected Hichilema five times, Zambians forced Him to allow him to rule — Kambwili

FORMER Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili says President Hakainde Hichilema’s five unsuccessful presidential bids were a sign that God had not chosen him to lead Zambia.

And Kambwili says President Hichilema does not love the poor, arguing that his government’s policies favour the wealthy and foreigners rather than ordinary Zambians.

Speaking during a live broadcast on his Facebook page, Kambwili said God had already shown that Hichilema was not meant to govern the country by allowing him to lose five consecutive elections before eventually winning in 2021.

“God showed us that Hakainde Hichilema cannot govern Zambia well. How did He show us? He lost five elections. If a person loses elections five times, it only shows that God did not bless him to lead a country. God did not choose him to lead the country,” Kambwili said.

He said Hichilema lost the presidential elections in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2016 before eventually being elected in 2021.

“But what did Zambians do? Anyway, I don’t blame Zambians. What was happening in the previous government is what led people into getting upset and deciding to try Hakainde Hichilema. But God rejected him five times,” he said.

Kambwili asserted that the Bible contains examples where God allowed people to have leaders of their own choosing despite His reservations.

“You know how God is. If He has not decided that you be President, and the people force Him that that is the leader they want, even in the Bible there were leaders that God said, ‘See for yourselves,’ and we know what happened,” he said.

He stressed that he does not hate President Hichilema and respects him as Zambia’s Head of State, but argued that public dissatisfaction with the President stems from his own leadership.

“We do not hate Hakainde Hichilema. He is our President, and we respect him as President of the Republic of Zambia. People have turned against Hichilema because of his own actions,” Kambwili said.

He accused the President of lacking compassion for struggling Zambians, saying a leader should prioritise the welfare of the poor.

“To run a country, you must love the people.
One must love the poor and have mercy on those who are suffering. But this man does not love the poor. He has no heart for the many suffering Zambians.”

Kambwili said if President Hichilema genuinely cared about the poor, his government would have implemented policies aimed at improving their lives.

“If he had a heart for the poor, he would have had pro-poor policies. Instead, our friends have policies that support the rich and foreigners. That is why when you see people praising him for having worked hard and delivered, they are foreigners.”

“When you go to foreign countries, they say Zambia has the best President. But when you come to Zambia, no one is seeing what he has done,” he said.

  1. The Zambian Constitution should be changed to have a term limit clause for ALL Politicians. Some Politicians just no longer fit in modern politics

  2. Motor mouth doing what he knows best, saying a lot of nonsense.

God was reserving HH for a time such as this and His timing is perfect. Imagine the mess this country would be in if HH was not the President. The same Mr. Kambwili used to ask God where He fished Mr. Lungu from.

  3. Please listen to your own conversation with the former Bank Governor. You said Brain is a thief… etc. Man, you are a shameless human being. Maybe Amos was right when he disclosed your health status. Behave yourself. Don’t feign illness after the 13th.

  4. Gabon disaster stadium man, can he say anything sensible this time, that is why many people don’t take him serious any more, Always talking about the past but no vision about the future. The past has nothing to do with his current situation. And he was not even being rejected but it haters and tribalists like him who were rigging and manipulating his votes. PF is on record bringing a foreigner to help them win the 2016 elections. And he always makes mistakes on choice and timing, he always joins losing teams leaving the winning ones, he is really a disaster to himself.

  5. Ba Kafenta! Imagine if HH Had ruled for ten years before PF and made Zambia a Heaven on Earth, Foreign Reserves spilling over, how much would Zambia have been destroyed? JMC has said it all.
‘Ba Pompwe’ only attracts other pompwes, that is all Zambians can see here.
Disguising yourselves in a NRPUP combat name does not change the character of PF and Zambians are definitely not going back.

  6. And that’s the problem with the God explanation of things. You can attribute anything to God. The surprising thing is that people still continue to believe instead of stopping to do some thinking or at least asking a few questions.

  7. This warped thinking of God, and with this nonsense someone wants me to believe that he is a leader. One problem we have in Zambia is that when some people have a platform to make noise, they believe that noise making is leadership. One thing the pompwe does not realise is that if they continued in power, Zambia today would be no different from Haiti.

  8. When is he going to retire from politics. He is on stage all the time with no audience. Can someone educate him about that. He is a spent force in Zambian politics as his brand is so damaged beyond repair.

  9. Ba Kambwili who told you God said this?

God can speak through a man with a heart like yours? The summation of the 10 commandments says love your neighbour as you love yourself…from your distain for the Head of State and the folks of the Southern Province…one would wonder how a man with a heart like yours can even utter the name of God and HH in the same sentence?
