Zim Govt Rubbishes Letter Claiming Auxillia Mnangagwa To Be Sworn In As President

The government has dismissed a letter circulating on social media which claims that First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa is set to be inaugurated as President of Zimbabwe in the near future.

The letter, dated 14 July 2026, claims that Printflow (Private) Limited has been directed to print 1,000 “copies of the official portrait of the incoming President, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, in accordance with the specifications and standards to be provided.”

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Ndavaningi “Nick” Mangwana said the letter was fabricated and generated using artificial intelligence.

He denied claims that the First Lady harbours presidential ambitions, saying she has never pursued a partisan agenda.

“There is a clear and misguided effort to thrust the First Lady, Dr. Mnangagwa, into the political spotlight through baseless allegations,” wrote Mangwana on X.

“In an attempt to lend credibility to this narrative, some are now circulating fabricated documents—clearly generated using artificial intelligence (AI)—to advance this agenda.

“While the First Lady is indeed a member of ZANU PF, she has never pursued a partisan agenda.

“Her initiatives and programmes remain distinctly nationalistic in character, treating all Zimbabweans equally, with particular attention to the less fortunate members of society and other causes close to her heart.”

Below is the letter, which was attributed to Martin Rushwaya, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet:

“The Office of the President and Cabinet instructed by His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, ereby commissions Printflow (Private) Limited to undertake the printing of one thousand (1,000) copies of the official portrait of the incoming President, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, in accordance with the specifications and standards to be provided.

“The portrait material shall carry the official caption:

“‘THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZIMBABWE, HER EXCELLENCY, DR AUXILLIA MNANGAGWA’

“You are kindly requested to treat this assignment as a matter of priority and ensure that the printing process is completed with urgency while maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation. Please note that this assignment is strictly confidential.

“Printflow (Private) Limited is therefore requested to maintain complete confidentiality regarding this commission and not disclose, circulate, reproduce, or share any details relating to the work without prior written authority from the Office of the President and Cabinet.

“Further instructions regarding delivery, distribution, and any additional requirements will be communicated in due course.

“Your cooperation and prompt attention to this matter will be greatly appreciated.”
