HH IS MEDDLING IN THE PROCUREMNT PROCESS OF FERTILIZER

…he is a good pretender says Frank Bwalya

Kitwe, Saturday, March 11, 2023 ( Smart Eagles )

Socialist Party (SP) Spokesperson Frank Bwalya has described President Hakainde Hichilema as a good pretender.

Mr Bwalya said this in reference to President Hichilema’s recent remarks that he had cancelled the tender for the supply of fertilizer for this year because there was nothing to promote Zambian companies producing fertilizer.

He said the Government cited Corruption as the reason for the late distribution last year just to create a deliberate conducive environment to single source a company they had in mind.

Mr Bwalya said this is an indication that the President has started meddling in the supply chain of fertilizer.

“Last year he accepted responsibility for the mess that they created last year. Is he telling Zambians that he is then only intelligent Zambians who can handle that project,” he stated.

Mr Bwalya also said that the President pretends to care for the local businesses when only his selfish motives are prioritised.

“If he really cared about the local companies. How many tonnage was given to the local producers. And why was fertilizer bought at over 1400 when the prevailing price per tonne was 1000 USD,” he said.

The Socialist Party Spokesperson has since encouraged Zambians to continue Pilling pressure on the Government to ensure that they do the right thing.

He said there is need for a clean process in the procurement of fertilizer as it as an effect on production of the staple food.

“Umwana ubwangalila kufyakulya temwana musuma. Ba PK balilanda. Ba Hakainde Ikateniko ku nsapato nefyashala noti ku ubunga. Let those who were handling the process do so. If they are corrupt, let them be prosecuted and arrested. We have this mess because he cannot do a good job,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Bwalya said it is unacceptable to for government to consider giving land to a foreign country.

He said what the Government must do is to invest more in agriculture so that the peasant farmers can grow cashew crops, add value and export.

He said this is the only way the kwacha is going to be strengthened.
