HH must talk with evidence – Kafwaya

LUNTE PF member of parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya has urged President Hakainde Hichilema not to be careless stressing that his statements should be supported by empirical evidence.
Kafwaya said the President cannot theorise issues because he has no leeway for that as he is the Head of State.
He said the contradicting statements on the Kariba and load shedding only embarrasses the President and no one else.
“The President must not talk anyhow. The President must be guided. Everything that the President says must be guided, they must be backed by empirical evidence. The President must be scientific in his expression of issues. The President cannot theorise, the President has no leeway for theorising. Established steps must be followed in providing the President with information. The President cannot be careless,” Kafwaya said. “Did you hear one board chair somewhere saying we mislead the President? How can a board chair speak in for the President for God’s sake. Who is a board chair to go and speak into the President? Who appoints a board chair in a parastatal like Zesco? It’s a minister. So how does a board chair bypass a minister to go and mislead a president? How? Why should the President listen to the board chair when he has a minister? Why?”
Featured on Radio Christian Voice on Monday, Kafwaya said the new dwn administration should stop playing adding that those that have nothing to do with the presidency should leave it alone.
“A board chair is a person so low in governance. So low to go and mislead a president. Where do you even gain access from to the President? If you were a board chair when I was minister, I would fire you immediately without an apology. That guy today would not be board chair if I were his minister. How? Who gave you authority to go and mislead the President? The President tells the country, this Kariba thing is leaking, board chair comes and tells you ‘no it is not leaking’,” Kafwaya noted. “The minister says load shedding is commencing. Some CEO says there will be no loading shedding. The President just the other month said, ‘we have ended load shedding’. A month later load shedding starts. One guy goes and says, ‘no the PF drunk all the water in Kariba, they finished the water to cover their tracks’. And this guy speaks for the President; whatever he says belongs to the President. He comes and says no they used all the water to cover their tracks…But it rained in 2022 and PF had already gone! Are you normal? What is the problem? What is the matter with you?”
And Kafwaya said it is hypocritical for local government minister Gary Nkombo to say that it is enough blaming PF but the UPND must begin to fix the country.
He noted that Nkombo is the one that has blamed PF the most.
“Now all that is embarrassing who? President Hakainde Hichilema. He is the one who is getting the embarrassment. It is not any other person that is why I am saying these people should stop playing. If you have no role to play with the presidency, leave it alone. You are a board chair in RTSA, work there. You have a lot of work there. You are in big, big problems. Massive problems as a government if you can’t stick to your lane. These things I can assure you, they can’t happen in my administration. They can’t,” he said. “This is why you can’t take proper decisions to help the country. ‘Oh enough of blaming PF, it is now time to start fixing things’. That is the minister speaking. When you go to the National Assembly, and look at which minister has blamed PF more than anyone. It is that same person saying [that]. What manner of hypocrisy is that? It is that same guy. He has blamed PF more than any other minister on the flow of the House. So who is he telling to stop blaming PF? Who?”
Kafwaya added that “what is on the ground for UPND is very bad, bakalila mu (they’ll cry in) 2026”.
He said the PF holds the key for Zambia.
“And I am talking to the Patriotic Front structures, you hold the key to this nation because the Zambian people are waiting for you to make the correct decision. Electing a president that will be accepted by not only the PF but the nation at large,” said Kafwaya. “And I have offered myself as a solution for that and I know that you are the most important people as things stand, as we propagate our ideas to the nation of Zambia. So PF, the nation is waiting upon you.”
