HICHILEMA MUST CHOOSE BETWEEN BEING MAZABUKA MP OR PRESIDENT, SAYS GARY NKOMBO.
Independent Mazabuka Central aspiring Member of Parliament Gary Chilala Nkombo says President Hakainde Hichilema must state whether he wants to be the Member of Parliament for Mazabuka Central or remain focused on serving as President of Zambia.
Mr. Nkombo says he is not contesting the presidency and that President Hichilema should instead concentrate on those seeking to unseat him from the country’s highest office.
He wondered why a sitting President would leave presidential matters to engage someone contesting for a parliamentary seat.
Mr. Nkombo said President Hichilema should be directing his political attention towards Brian Mundubile, whom he says is challenging him for the presidency, rather than himself.
“Did I say I want the presidency of this country? Have you seen my name contesting for the presidency? I am contesting as MP for Mazabuka, not President. Let him choose one—be Mazabuka’s MP or Zambia’s President,” Gary Nkombo challenged.
“It is Mundubile who wants the presidency, not Gary Nkombo. Let him fight to retain the presidency. Leave the MP seat to us. You can’t be fighting me as though you gave birth to me. Leave me alone,” Nkombo said while addressing his supporters.

Hmmm ba Garry. Iam disappointed with you Sir.
Those are strong words Mr. Nkombo. You are a mature politician and should not allow yourself to go that low. Just campaign peacefully and if the people of Mazabuka central still value you, they will vote for you. HH is your elder brother. Learn from Mundubile, he usually refer to HH as ”my brother Hakainde Hichilema.”
This is exactly what the President meant when he said Nkombo is a rebel. This level of sarcasm can rarely come out of the mouth of someone who once was loyal. Reading between the lines reveals a character that is at best bent on his ways. It is clear that HH was forced to come out in the open about the true character of Gary. One hopes people read through the charade.
What we’re seeing are the true colours of who Gary really is and it’s good that by the way he’s coming out, he is confirming what he truly is. It’s good he has been exposed. What a disappointment, I for one once held him in high esteem. The likes of Hon. Elijah Muchima have humbled themselves but for Gary, pride comes before a fall.
Gary Nkombo, many people recognise that your political prominence and experience were built significantly through your association with the UPND and under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema. For that reason, some have found your recent actions, statements, and responses disappointing, as they appear inconsistent with the loyalty, gratitude, and spirit of collaboration that many expected.
Political relationships are often built on mutual trust, support, and shared purpose. When those relationships appear to weaken, it naturally raises questions about commitment and appreciation for the opportunities and support that contributed to one’s political journey. It is my hope that these differences can be addressed with respect and in a manner that preserves constructive engagement.
Gary Nkombo is the incoming MP of Mazabuka central. The more they talk about him, the more popular he becomes. No one is even mentioning the name of the upnd candidate as he is not even heard of. Even at the rally when HH asked the crowd if they will vote for Gary they all raised their hands in unison. That was not a mistake. They heard him just right but they wanted to show him who they are going to vote for as MP.
…and what happened when HH said it the other way round? All raised their hands in unison. It’s like you did not pick that.
Such a disappointment! It seems gratitude is a foreign trait in GARRY’s language and personality.
It so happens that he is ending his political career in a very disturbing manner.
