OFFICE OF THE FORMER PRESIDENT IS CONSTITUTIONAL, OPEN IT-AMB. MWAMBA

Hichilema must fund Edgar Lungu´s office
…of the sixth President as soon as possible says Amb. Mwamba

The office of the sixth President of Zambia Edgar Lungu must immediately be fully funded by the government of President Hakainde Hichilema as prescribed by the constitution of Zambia says PF Member of the Central Committee, Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba.

Mr Mwamba, the former Ambassador of Zambia to the African Union said withholding the funds for the office of the former President Lungu is illegal and shows ´levels of contempt towards the statesman´ who wilfully conceded defeat in a poll almost a year ago.
President Lungu´s office has not been funded for almost one year now, therefore limiting the number of activities he can engage in locally and abroad in the absence of a coordinated office, a spokesman and administration staff like his predecessors, no explanation has been proffered by President Hichilema.

“President Lungu is a statesman, and you must remember that he is the sole living former head of state of Zambia and therefore needs to be treated as such, not as a favour but as a legal requirement,” said Ambassador Mwamba.

The PF presidential aspirant was speaking on Radio Phoenix programme Let the People Talk on Friday following the confusion that arose during the interrogation of former first Lady Esther Lungu earlier on Tuesday.

“Its very sad to have witnessed cadres from the ruling party hit and shake and stone the vehicle carrying the former President and his wife just within miles of police presence it was a real shame and must never be repeated and I challenge the ruling party to condemn the unlawful disrespectful and contemptuous actions,” said Ambassador Mwamba.

Away from President Lungu and the former first lady that is being probed for owning “only” 15 apartments, Ambassador Mwamba also called Inspector General of police Lemmy Kajoba and Speaker of the house Nelly Mutti to take off their “partisan robes” and act in a fair manner as they execute their duties.

“It’s a fact that both IG Kajoba and Speaker Mutti are both senior members of the UPND ruling party, but the opposition days are over as they now hold constitution office they must discard their political carder robes and act fairly in the course of their work,” said Ambassador Mwamba.

Ambassador Mwamba also wondered and mused at the fact that the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Ms Lillian Siyuni is currently undergoing prosecution and persecution while the DEC boss alleged to be on nude videos remains protected by the state and has not refuted images circulating on social media linking her to alleged pornography.

The nude videos have taken Zambia by storm with activists such as Chilufya Tayali openly challenging Ms Chirwa to openly decant the porn videos, resign and face prosecution.

The Presidents spokesman Anthony Bwalya has, however, poured scorn on the fact that President Hichilema has stayed mute on his DEC Tzarina´s alleged misconduct and involvement in “obscene” material production because he is “busy” trying to create jobs.
Mr Mwamba said as an opposition, the PF would continue holding the Hichilema government to account despite open attempts to shut down anyone that is vocal in the PF including the former President Edgar Lungu.

The former Ambassador concluded with a clarion call to Mr Hichilema to treat his predecessor with the respect he deserves as a former head of state because whatever he does today shall come to haunt him under another leader once he leaves office if he doesn’t break the jinx now.
