“HOW DID THEY WIN?” — UPND’S NYIRENDA QUESTIONS LUNDAZI RESULTS
UPND FOU and Presidential Campaign Team member Leemans Nyirenda has called for a serious investigation into the Lundazi Constituency election, disputing the opposition’s victory.
Mr. Nyirenda alleges that there was massive bribery during the night before voting and on polling day, claiming that motorbikes linked to the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance were moving around polling stations.
He says he personally saw more than 100 motorbikes stationed at a candidate’s residence on the afternoon of August 12, despite there being no roadshow that day.
Mr. Nyirenda further alleges that some polling officials were hostile towards UPND and says he suspects possible collusion by some party officials.
He argues that the party’s campaign effort and resources did not correspond with the election outcome, insisting that President Hakainde Hichilema, Golden Tembo, Gibson Mugala and most councillors should have won in Lundazi.
Mr. Nyirenda has called on the UPND to institute a serious investigation into the Lundazi election and says he is ready to participate in the process.
