HOW GOD CAME TO MY RESCUE OVER THE LONG WEEKEND
By Miles Sampa
Two incidents this weekend that God reminded me of his priceless love for me. I lost my main phone on the plane and it couldn’t be found, even after removing the plane cushions and the cleaner sweeping the entire floor around where I sat. Bags were scanned over and over and no phone. I checked out and met my wife who had come to receive me. Then she said that she had been calling me and phone was just ringing.
Then I did a Muzala back to the plane ✈️ ,just before they closed the door for departure. With the help of some Zambian airport ground staff, we removed the bags on the top compartments around where I had sat whilst calling the number. This habit of putting phones on silent did not help matters. Then one sharp lady, I guess from Chipata, screamed “I have found it!”. It was in the top hand luggage compartment where the air hostess had put used duvet for the return flight. Kaya whether it fell off my hand luggage or some air hostess wanted to “play games”.
The relief got me to pray and thank God for the rest of the night. Yes it’s the same iphone 14 I bought pa Nkongole but more of its content I could not have done without.
Then last night, awe sure! I went to check on my few cows near the Sondela police camp, on the banks of the Kafue river. The road is extremely bad and faster if you hire a boat from the bridge for some hour ride on the river. I was with my security guy Boko and a cadre from the Copperbelt called Mr Ground.
By the time we were on the way back it got dark and VERY DARK . Apparently the cockswines do not need a light even from the phone to navigate into the dark of the river. Ours was doing well with his expertise but for some reason, he still maintained the same speed as if it was during the day. I warned him several times to slow down, but like most he was stubborn.
Awe sure. Next thing ,instead of making a sharp left to follow the direction of the river, he cruised straight into the mountain direction. Boat crushed into the river reeds and we were stuck about 20 meters from the flowing water and about 15 meters before the mountains. As with arrogance of most boat ‘drivers’, they had not even packed the paddling stick for emergency puddling needs. The engine could not start as it was caught up in the thicket of water reeds.
I ,however, then got to witness some water genius works from the cockswine and his two support boat boys. They took off their clothes and got into deep waters pulling the boat while holding on to the reeds. This is like 50 meters deep water. Slowly but sure the boat got back into flowing water away from the heavy weeds and mountain. We set off and it was another hour before we got back to the bridge and much to the relief of my wife and child I had left waiting on shore.
All I can say is if God is with you, he will protect protect you from all dangers and misfortunes. I had been playing gospel music when driving to Kafue and even played it louder on the way back.
Thank you Jesus 🙏🏾
