HOW GREED, FAMILY CONFLICT AND BETRAYAL BROKE THE BOND OF P-SQUARE.

The story of P-Square was once regarded as one of Africa’s greatest music success stories. Twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye dominated the music industry for years, entertaining millions of fans across the continent and beyond.

Today, however, that success story has been overshadowed by painful family divisions.

Speaking emotionally during a recent social media broadcast, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, opened up about the events he says contributed to the breakdown of both the music group and his relationship with members of his family.

According to Peter, one of the most painful experiences occurred when his mother visited his home accompanied by four pastors, his elder brother Jude Okoye, and his twin brother Paul Okoye. Peter said he was confused by the unexpected gathering and questioned why they wanted to see his wife, Lola.

Peter recalled that when Lola arrived, everyone gathered in the master bedroom.

He said neither he nor his wife was offered a seat, leaving the couple sitting on the floor while the rest of the family remained seated.

He alleged that his mother then told his wife that the Okoye family had decided she should leave him.

“My own mother said, ‘Young lady, we the Okoye family have decided that you leave our son alone.’ I was shocked,” Peter recounted.

According to Peter, Lola turned to him in disbelief and asked what was happening.

Peter said he was equally confused and tried to understand why such a meeting had been arranged.

He further alleged that Jude Okoye, who was also managing the group at the time, angrily told Lola to leave Peter alone and questioned the paternity of their child.

Peter said the remarks deeply hurt his wife, who burst into tears before running out of the room.

Peter said he rushed after her, only to realize she had arrived with their five-month-old baby.

He watched as she drove away in tears, while he was left devastated by what had just unfolded.

Months later, Peter said his mother returned to his home with the pastors. This time, he claimed she held up a photograph of his son and declared that nobody should ever speak negatively about the child again.

According to Peter, she instructed his brothers to apologize to both him and Lola.

Although the moment appeared to be one of reconciliation, Peter said the emotional damage had already been done.

“Guys, I started crying. She asked me why I was crying despite giving me what she called good news. But what was good about it after everything that had happened?” Peter said.

Peter also made serious allegations regarding the business affairs of P-Square.

He claimed that his elder brother Jude and his twin brother Paul secretly handled financial matters in ways that disadvantaged him.

“Jude, our brother, and Paul, my twin brother, were stealing from me, guys, and I will prove it today,” Peter alleged while stating that he intended to present bank statements and payment records to support his claims.»

The allegations have generated widespread discussion among fans, many expressing sadness that one of Africa’s most successful musical groups has become embroiled in such a bitter family dispute.

As of the time of writing, the allegations shared by Peter reflect his account of events.

Those accused have previously given their own perspectives on the long-running disagreements, and the family dispute continues to attract significant public attention.

What was once celebrated as an inspiring story of twin brothers conquering the music world has become a painful reminder that fame and success do not always protect families from conflict.
