“I am not gay, I am Pansexual”. Somizi says he is mischaracterized as gay, but he is not gay.
For many years, many knew sensational TV personality, Somizi Mhlongo, as gay or homosexual. In this way, he was thought to be attracted to people of the same gender as him. However, Somizi today says this common understanding of him is not entirely correct.
Even though he came to be categorized or know as gay in his adult life, in his youth days, Somizi was as much a straight man as they come.
In 1995, Somizi was a young man at age 22. At that time, like all young men his age, he had a girlfriend by the name Palesa Madisakwane. Palesa was then an aspiring actress, who later became a known TV star in south Africa. She featured in major television programs like, Generations: the legacy, Gazlam, Ashes to Ashes, isibaya and others.
In 1995, Somizi and Palesa had a beautiful love child called Bahumi Madisakwane-Mhlongo. When she was born, Bahumi found two beautiful loving parents ready to raise her as mommy and daddy. However, it turned out after a while that mommy and daddy were not to be because daddy was crossing over to play for the home team.
According to Palesa, it was after the birth of Bahumi that Somizi really began to actively walk out of the closet. Before Bahumi was born, Palesa said she did not know that Somizi was gay and could not have suspected, as Somizi was busy every day being a heterosexual man she fell in love with. Well, it is history now because Somizi became a well-known gay man/woman in south Africa.
However, today, after so many years of being known as gay, Somizi says he is not actually gay, but he is Pansexual. According to Somizi, as he narrated his story on L-tidonetwork podcast, he never actually say that he doesn’t like or not attracted to females, but it was imposed on him by society.
“First of all, I never said I don’t like girls, and 2, the world put me in a box to say ‘you are gay’,” said Somizi. He continued to explain that he is a Pansexual, which means that he can date both genders if he really like the person and their energies connect.
Well, this comes as a total 360 turn of reality to many who knew of Somizi in the country. As it stands, this would mean that Somizi is no longer gay, as once assumed to be, but he is more like bisexual. This means he now can date both men and women, if he feels like it.
As usual, south Africans were unhinged on the socials, making all kinds of allegations. Some have blamed it on age as they argued that Somizi is coming to his senses as an old man; he wants to go back to being a man and marry a wife to age with. They suggested he might already have such a woman in mind, if he is not considering picking up where he left off with palesa, the mother of his child.
Either way, it is all good for Somizi if he is now a Pansexual and can marry a wife and have more children of his own. Provided, of course, if he is really attracted to that woman and their energies connect
