Patrick Mwanawasa

Patrick Mwanawasa, the son of the late President Levy Mwanawasa has said that he sees many similarities between his late father and the current President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu.

Speaking on the Round Table Talk hosted by PF last night, Mr. Mwanawasa said that both Presidents possessed great humility and desire to see a Zambia whose people are emancipated from poverty.

Mr. Mwanawasa further stated that both Presidents had given many opportunities to women to participate in the governance of the nation by appointing them to decision-making positions, reflecting that his late father’s cabinet had several women in it, while President Lungu took it a notch higher by appointing the first woman Vice President, Mrs. Inonge Wina and also by choosing a woman again to be his running mate, in Professor Nkandu Luo who he described as a formidable Human being.

Mr.Mwanawasa who served as Deputy Permanent Secretary in Eastern and Central Provinces said that his father went through a lot of challenges, which the current president equally went through.

“I think there are similarities between them. My father went through a lot of challenges such as droughts and armyworms which President Lungu has equally had to face. Remember they both overcame those challenges and today, this nation has a bumper harvest despite President Lungu battling armyworms, drought causing erratic power supply, floods, and now the pandemic,” he said.

And Mr. Mwanawasa has dismissed claims by the United Party for National Development(UPND) that there is a wind of change in the nation, as mare hallucinations. Mr Mwanawasa said he was 39 years old and that in this period he had witnessed 8 elections and uncountable by-elections. He said he knew exactly what wind of change looked like because he had seen it in 1991 and in 2011. He said even dogs and chickens felt the wind of change during those two historic moments. He stated that it was not the case this time as he had traversed the nation and could confidently say that the Patriotic Front and President Lungu were still very popular on the ground and loved by the Zambian people.

Mr Mwanawasa has since urged the people of Zambia to turn out in large numbers and vote for the PF and President Lungu for continuity, adding that the PF and President Lungu have laid a solid foundation for the prosperity of this nation and Zambians are eager to reap the benefits of this hard-working government

  1. What a young Turkey this guy is does he think for 1 minute his Dad can compare with ECL his Dad was an amazing honest person how could he tarnish his own fathers name in vain with a corrupt person.

  2. What this boy said is a big insult to the noble late president Mwanawasa, he may be a son but some of us worked with LPM very closely and there is nothing b whatsoever is there to liken LPM to Lungu. The only thing that this boy have is a criminal mind of eating with the devil and soiling the noble legacy of LPM. In short this boy is ready to sell his father’s legacy for a bowl of red stew like Esau of the Bible.

  3. There is no similarity with your father at all.patrick your father had integrity he was honest. No past nor president is equil to Mwanawasa. What an insult to your father.

    • This broke and big headed boy adulterer must be taking drugs now! He is looking for a job from Edgar Lungu and has no shame to defame his father. He may be Levys son but is far away from Levy in demeanor! Foolish boy.

  4. PATRICK YOU HAVE BLASPHEMED, JUST LOOK AT THE CORRUPTION, THE CADERISM, THE THEFT, THE LIES ARE YOU SAYING YOUR FATHERS ADMINISTRATION DID ALL THESE BAD THINGS? I HOPE YOU WERE NOT IN YOUR RIGHT SENSES WHEN WRITING THIS ARTICLE, PLEASE SOBER UP AND RE WRITE A CORRECT ARTICLE. YOUR FATHER WAS THE BEST PRESIDENT ZAMBIA HAS EVER HAD AND YOU ARE COMPARING HIM TO BE EQUAL TO IN MY VIEW THE WORST PRESIDENT OF OUR TIME, NO YOU ARE NOT FAIR.

  5. Patrick Mwanawasa is hallucinating and living in another country. His foolishness and absurdity are a sign that the young man is no match to the personality of his late father His Excellency President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa. Comparing the government of and character of His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa and to that a gallant and man of high integrity late Levy Patrick Mwanawasa is an insult to the people of this great nation Zambia. President Edgar Lungu has had a criminal record of stealing money from her client and was suspended from practicing as a Lawyer by the Law Association of Zambia. Secondly President Edgar Lungu allowed her daughter to selfishly acquire an illegal forest. He did nothing to stop the illegality until Panji Kaunda brought the issue to the attention of the public. Thirdly, the currently president during his regime we have witnessed high profile corruption deeds by his Ministers and other senior Civil Servants and no action has been done. Fourthly, the Rule of Law and institution of governance have been weakened by partisan appointments and highly compromised office bearers. The fifth point is that there is too much inflation and poor economic performance coupled with a weakening Kwacha which was not the case with the New Deal government. Political thugs and PF cadres are more influential and powerful than the Zambia Police, hence leading to lawlessness and a toothless Zambia Police. The Zambia Police is a political tool which the PF government has been using to silence critical voices with divergent. The other reason is that the entire PF government with the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Zambia Police have lamentably failed to bring to justice and law the owner of the 48 ghost houses in Chalala. There are many more ills and failures which I cannot mention as the list is endless.

Therefore, President Edgar Lungu is not humble but a person who has been abusing authority by using weak pastors to promote an personal agenda. Within a short period of his reign, he has accumulated huge sums of money and wealth which he cannot account for its source, is that a sign of being humble leader?
