I WANT TO BE A MINISTER OF RECONCILIATION FOR ONE ZAMBIA – ONE NATION IN THE NEXT GOVT OF EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU

There was an overwhelming response of affirmation, on my 20:00hrs Direct Talk program, last night, that President Lungu should come back in 2026. I went to sleep thinking about this and saw it happening in 2026 if not earlier.

It is clear President Hakainde Hichilema has failed to change the lives of Zambians for the better, as promised, rather, he has made things worse, and therefore he is certainly going to be voted out in 2026.

This morning I woke up thinking of how President Hichilema has been so ruthless to some of us, including to President Edgar Lungu and his family. I imagined, how many people would want to avenge for the injustices.

But when I went to Church, Fr. Moses Zwanyika, Parish Priest of Roma Parish, spoke strongly about being different from those who persecute us.

Giving a homily, reflecting on Matthew 10:16-23 which reads;

“Jesus said to his Apostles:
“Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves;
so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.
But beware of men,
for they will hand you over to courts
and scourge you in their synagogues,
and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake
as a witness before them and the pagans.
When they hand you over,
do not worry about how you are to speak
or what you are to say.
You will be given at that moment what you are to say.
For it will not be you who speak
but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Brother will hand over brother to death,
and the father his child;
children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name,
but whoever endures to the end will be saved.
When they persecute you in one town, flee to another.
Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel
before the Son of Man comes.””,

Fr. Moses emphasized, that people, including those who are close to us, will do bad things to us, but the issue is how we react to them. He said that, we should not seek revenge but respond with love.

I have been arrested 9 times since President Hichilema came into power for speaking the truth, but my heart harbors no hate or bitterness and I pray that, all of us who are going through persecutions as the result of President Hichilema’s bad governance, should be able to forgive.

Therefore, I am proposing that, in the next Govt of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, we should create a Commission of Reconciliation for One Zambia – One Nation (not a Ministry, I just wanted to catch your attention) to unite this Country, because we are more divided than ever.

This commission should be led by Church and civic leaders.
