President Duma Boko can count on Former President Ian Khama’s experience if he needs advice, although the former leader says he has no intention of influencing government decisions.
Khama said disagreements over government policies should not be mistaken for political hostility, insisting that he remains committed to the success of Boko’s administration
Speaking on the Growth Well Podcast hosted by author and entrepreneur Oabona Kgengwenyane, Khama said he supported the government when it took office and remained willing to contribute to its success for the benefit of the country.
He said he would not seek to influence government decisions or dictate how the administration should operate, but would share his experience if approached by Boko.
“If he was to ask me about this or that, then of course, as a citizen, I believe I have an obligation to share my experiences and my knowledge with him if it will benefit the country,” he said.
Khama acknowledged that the administration had inherited significant economic and social challenges, saying it needed time to find its footing.
“When you consider what they inherited, which was really a disaster for our economy and our social being, they are still threading their way through that,” he said.
