Our parents and grandparents survived on these remedies long before modern pharmacies existed.
Now, under President Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership, Burkina Faso is asking the right question: what if these healers who know exactly which leaves and barks can heal are properly trained, tested, and supported to produce their remedies safely and at scale?
This is what happens when a government values its own people’s knowledge instead of dismissing it.
Modern science and traditional wisdom don’t have to compete they can work side by side to save more lives.
