ICE just tricked a 21-year-old mom into bringing her entire family to her final green card interview. Then they arrested her.
Armelle walked in holding her husband’s hand, their son beside them in his stroller. He’s a U.S. citizen. She came here lawfully when she was 9.
She was waiting for an officer to walk in with the paperwork that would make her legal.
Instead, ICE walked in and put them in separate rooms.
Terrance, holding their 19-month-old, kissed his wife goodbye. Thecçn ICE handcuffed her.
“I felt completely powerless kissing my wife goodbye, not knowing when I would see her next.”
Then he had to leave. Alone. With their son.
“Wheeling our son out of that building in his stroller without his mom is a feeling no human should ever have to endure.”
Armelle has no criminal history.
ICE has been doing this at green card interviews around the country. In some cases, immigration offices have alerted ICE when an interview was about to end so agents could be waiting
“Please help us bring Armelle home,” Terrance said.
She’s now in a jail across the river from her son.
