UNITED STATES: “I’m Running for a Fourth Term as President of the United States” – President Trump
US President Donald Trump joked about running for President for the fourth time while speaking at the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
The event, which celebrates press freedom and honours journalism, was held three months after the original dinner was cut short due to an attempted shooting incident
During his hour-long speech, Trump brought up running again multiple times.
He first said: “Just like my presidency, the second time is always better. It’s always better, and the third time will be better yet”.
Then near the end, he put on a red “Trump 2028″ cap and announced: “I’m pleased to announce my intention to, and this is somewhat of a scoop, my intention to run for a fourth term as president of the United States, I will be doing that”
He later added he was joking and repeated claims about winning in 2016, 2020 and 2024.
