DEPUTY SECRETARY TO THE CABINET LEADS INSPECTION OF NATIONAL HEROES STADIUM RENOVATION WORKS
LUSAKA, Monday, 24th August 2026 — Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet for Administration, Dr. Oliver Kalabo, this morning led a delegation of senior Government officials on an inspection tour of the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation works at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
The inspection was undertaken to assess progress on the works and appreciate the preparations being made ahead of the the inauguration ceremony.
The delegation, comprising Permanent Secretaries and other senior Government officials, toured various sections of the stadium, including the VIP facilities, washrooms, areas designated for the mounting of the main stage, and other critical sections currently undergoing rehabilitation and improvement works.
The inspection provided an opportunity for the delegation to assess the works on the ground and ensure that the ongoing preparations remain on course for the facility to meet the required standards
The rehabilitation of the National Heroes Stadium is being undertaken through a multi-sectoral Government approach involving the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development; Zambia National Service and Zambia Air Force.
The works being undertaken include improvements to VIP facilities, carpeting, tiling, plumbing, rehabilitation of ablution facilities and other critical infrastructure at the stadium.
