INDEPENDENT BISHOP EDWARD CHOMBA WINS KANKOYO, TOPPLES UPND
Independent parliamentary candidate Bishop Edward Chomba has won the Kankoyo Parliamentary seat in Mufulira defeating UPND candidate Heartson Mabeta in the 2026 General Election.
Mabeta who served as Member of Parliament for Kankoyo from 2021 to 2026 has failed to secure a second consecutive term.
The result means the historical trend in Kankoyo remains unchanged, with no Member of Parliament having served the constituency for two consecutive terms.
Chomba’s victory therefore maintains what has become a notable electoral pattern in Kankoyo, where incumbent MPs have consistently failed to return for a second term.
Zambians went to the polls on August 13, 2026, to elect the President, Members of Parliament, mayors, council chairpersons and councillors. FCC
