INDEPENDENT MP DISSECTS HH PRONOUNCEMENTS
Chasefu North Independent Member of Parliament Captain Towani Chipeta has acknowledged the speech by President Hakainde Hichilema during the official opening of the 14th national assembly that inflation has gone down but observed that ordinary citizens are yet to feel real growth in areas such as healthcare.
She agreed that illegal mining, especially involving children, remains a grave concern and should be eradicated.
Chipeta advanced that erratic petroleum supply affects the factors of production and called for transparent and affordable fuel supply.
She noted that most of the 18,000 health workers employed are support staff rather than key medical personnel.
Chipeta emphasised that cadreism remains a concern and warned cadres against intimidating public officials and interfering with government work.
She added that respect for the rule of law must be demonstrated through actions and seen in practice and said overall the speech provided a blueprint for Government’s policy direction over the next five years.
