India lodges protest after tanker incident — raises alarm over Iran’s enforcement tactics

India has issued a strong diplomatic response following the attack on its flagged vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador in New Delhi, expressing “grave concern” over the targeting of civilian shipping.

The incident has also drawn attention to a striking contradiction  despite India remaining one of Iran’s key oil customers, its vessels were still fired upon during the enforcement operation.

Observers note that actions by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reflect a more aggressive posture, signaling that maritime restrictions are being applied broadly, regardless of trade relationships.

The development underscores a shift toward uncompromising enforcement, as Iran moves to demonstrate its ability to effectively control and potentially shut down the Strait of Hormuz under escalating pressure.
