Iran Claims Capture of U.S. Remus 600 Underwater Drone in Strait of Hormuz
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy says it has seized a U.S. Remus 600 autonomous underwater vehicle in the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC said the underwater drone was operating in the strategic waterway for alleged espionage purposes and was captured during a coordinated operation involving intelligence and electronic warfare capabilities.
Iranian forces said the Remus 600 has been handed over to specialists to recover and examine its stored data.
The United States has rejected the claim, saying it maintains positive control of all operational U.S. drone assets.
The reported seizure comes after Iran claimed earlier this month that it had captured another U.S. unmanned underwater vehicle near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.
