Iran Claims F-35s Destroyed in Missile Strike; U.S. and Jordan Reject Allegation
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it launched a ballistic missile strike against Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, alleging that the attack destroyed three U.S. F-35A fighter jets, severely damaged three more, destroyed aircraft shelters, and killed U.S. technical personnel.
According to the IRGC, the operation was carried out in retaliation for recent U.S. airstrikes on Qeshm Island in southern Iran
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has firmly denied the claim, stating that no U.S. aircraft were damaged or destroyed during the attack. CENTCOM also said U.S. and Jordanian air defense systems successfully intercepted the incoming missiles and drones.
The Jordanian Armed Forces likewise stated that their air defense units intercepted five Iranian missiles approaching the country’s airspace and reported no damage to aircraft or facilities at Al-Azraq Air Base.
As of now, no satellite imagery or independently verified evidence has emerged to confirm Iran’s claim that any F-35 fighter jets were destroyed or damaged. The competing statements remain unverified and are part of the ongoing information war between the opposing sides.
