Iran Claims It Shot Down U.S. MQ-1 Predator Drone Over Strait of Hormuz
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims it has shot down a U.S. MQ-1 Predator drone over the Strait of Hormuz using a newly developed Iranian air defense system.
The IRGC said its air defense forces detected and engaged the American reconnaissance and strike drone as it was operating over the strategic waterway, marking another escalation between Iranian and U.S. forces in the region.
The claim has not yet been independently confirmed by U.S. officials, and Washington has not publicly acknowledged the loss of an MQ-1 drone.
