Iran Claims Second Commercial Vessel Intercepted in Strait of Hormuz
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it has successfully intercepted and halted a second commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, further escalating tensions in one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors.
According to the IRGC, the vessel allegedly ignored Iranian warnings and failed to follow routes approved by Iranian authorities. The group stated that the ship was stopped under the same justification used in previous maritime actions.
Iranian officials also reiterated their position that the Strait of Hormuz will remain “closed indefinitely,” signaling a continued hardline stance amid the ongoing confrontation in the Gulf.
The latest claim is expected to heighten concerns over global shipping security and energy markets, as the Strait of Hormuz serves as a vital route for a significant portion of the world’s oil and commercial maritime traffic.
