Iran Condemns U.S. Strikes on Oil Tankers as “War Crime”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the U.S. strikes on Iranian commercial oil tankers, calling the attacks a clear violation of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter and describing them as a “war crime.”

Tehran accused Washington of continuing military aggression, naval blockade and economic warfare against Iran, warning that the attacks also threaten international peace and maritime trade.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry warned that the United States and its allies would be held responsible for all consequences arising from the continuation of attacks on Iranian commercial vessels.

The statement follows U.S. strikes on three Iranian crude oil carriers in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman on September 5.
