IRAN DECLARES HORMUZ OPEN AS TRUMP VOWS BLOCKADE WILL CONTINUE UNTIL DEAL

Iran says the Strait of Hormuz remains “completely open” to commercial shipping during the ongoing ceasefire, even as Donald Trump insists the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports will stay in place until a formal agreement is reached.

The mixed signals briefly calmed markets, with oil prices falling following Tehran’s announcement. The strait—through which a significant share of global oil supply passes—remains critical to international trade and energy security..

The developments come as a fragile 10-day ceasefire takes hold between Israel and Lebanon, with celebrations reported in Beirut despite ongoing uncertainty.

The six-week conflict has left more than 2,000 people dead in Lebanon and displaced roughly one in five residents. Israel reports two civilian deaths and 13 soldiers killed.

Despite the pause in fighting, the situation remains highly volatile.
