Iran demands ‘practical action’ from Ukraine over ship attack
Iran is waiting for Kyiv to take “practical action” over an attack on an Iranian ship and will pursue measures to hold Ukraine accountable, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday.
Baghaei said Ukrainian officials had repeatedly told Tehran that the attack was unintentional, but that public remarks by President Volodymyr Zelensky contradicted those assurances.
The comments followed a recent escalation over a Ukrainian attack on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea. Iran said the strike killed one sailor and warned it would not go unanswered, while Ukraine said the ship was carrying military cargo.
