Iran Rejects US Response on Hormuz Reopening as Negotiations Stall

Iran has declared the latest US response to its seven conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz insufficient, raising further doubts over efforts to restore normal maritime traffic through the strategic waterway.

Mohsen Rezaei, a senior Iranian security official, said Washington had accepted some conditions but left others unclear. Tehran is now demanding further clarification and says it will not proceed with negotiations until its conditions are met.

The proposal outlined a potential path to restoring normal passage through the strait within seven days if the conditions were fulfilled. However, no agreement to reopen the waterway has been confirmed.

The impasse threatens to prolong uncertainty over global energy shipments and maritime security, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a critical route for international oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.
