IRAN SETS CONDITIONS FOR REOPENING STRAIT OF HORMUZ REPORT
Iran has outlined a list of demands it says the United States must meet before Tehran agrees to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
Among the conditions Iran is reportedly demanding:
🔹 No threats or insults against Iran Washington must refrain from threats, provocative language, or actions that Tehran considers disrespectful toward Iran’s sacred sites and national symbols.
🔹 End military operations against Iran and its allies Iran is demanding a complete halt to attacks involving Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen and Iraq.
🔹 End the maritime blockade Tehran wants the U.S. naval and air forces operating around Iran to withdraw and the alleged maritime blockade against Iran to be lifted.
🔹 Compensation for wartime damage Iran is demanding full compensation for losses it says resulted from the two wars launched against it.
🔹 Lifting of sanctions Tehran wants the sanctions imposed on Iran to be removed, describing them as unlawful measures that punish the Iranian population.
🔹 Release of frozen Iranian assets Iran is also demanding the unconditional release of Iranian funds and assets currently frozen abroad.
Tehran says these demands represent what it describes as the will of the Iranian people, claiming that Iranians have expressed support for them through demonstrations and public gatherings over the past 160 days.
Iran also says its Supreme National Security Council will not abandon these demands, whether during wartime or negotiations.
The demands could significantly complicate efforts to reach an agreement over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important energy corridors.
For Tehran, reopening the waterway appears to be tied directly to broader security, sanctions and political concessions from Washington.
