Iran Signals Wider Missile Threat to Europe, Khorramshahr-4 Raises Concerns Over Britain

Iran has warned that any renewed military conflict with the United States and Israel could extend beyond the Middle East and reach Europe, raising concerns over the security of British and other European military facilities.

The warning follows a statement attributed to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on October 31, ordering the armed forces to respond to any attack immediately and without geographical restrictions.

Iranian political figures have since suggested that countries hosting US military forces, including Britain, Germany, Italy and Greece, could become potential targets in a wider conflict.

The Khorramshahr missile family has drawn particular attention. Iran claims the Khorramshahr-4 can travel approximately 2,000 kilometers while carrying a 1,500-kilogram warhead. Other Khorramshahr configurations have been assessed as potentially reaching around 3,000 kilometers with a lighter payload.

However, these figures do not establish that the Khorramshahr-4 can directly strike Britain, which lies beyond its publicly stated range.

Military analysts say extending missile range would require trade-offs, including a substantially lighter warhead. A reported Iranian missile attempt against the US-UK military base at Diego Garcia in March also raised questions about Tehran’s longer-range capabilities, although important technical details remain disputed.

For now, there is no confirmed evidence that Iran has selected Britain for an imminent missile attack. Nevertheless, Tehran’s increasingly broad warnings are raising security concerns across Europe as tensions with Washington remain unresolved.
